This week’s episode of These Stones explores themes of grief, family, and the power of redemption.

Episode Summary

In the premiere of These Stones, we are introduced to McKenna, a young woman grappling with the recent loss of her mother. As she navigates the complexities of grief, McKenna receives a surprising call from Special Dispatch, a supernatural organization that pairs undercover Bible characters with people facing modern challenges.

McKenna’s first mission involves Courier Aaron (Moses’ brother), who is tasked with helping Jonathan, a troubled son struggling to reconcile with his dying father. Their strained relationship, rooted in differing dreams and perspectives, mirrors the biblical story of Aaron and Moses. Just as Aaron stood by Moses against Pharaoh, Jonathan finds a powerful ally in Aaron as they confront his own personal “pharaoh.”

Humble Pie à la These Stones

Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous [person] can accomplish much. — James 5:16

We have all made mistakes, even biblical figures like Aaron! Think about how Aaron’s admission of his past misgivings open’s Jonathan’s ears to hear what he has to say. Remember, we have all made mistakes. So let’s own them! Just a small, sincere taste of sweetness can help pave the way for relational healing.

Have you ever played second fiddle to someone else who got most of the credit, the way Aaron played second fiddle to Moses? How did that make you feel and how did you learn about humility through it?
